Brits occupy only half of UK rich list

There are 73 billionaires in the 1,000 Rich list list, but just 40 are British born.

The wealthiest Briton is the Duke of Westminster, who is number 4 on the list with a fortune of £7 billion. He has fallen to fourth place and out of the top three for the first time since 1999.

Other British citizens in the top 10 include Kirsty Bertarelli, the British wife of Italian pharmaceuticals billionaire Ernesto Bertarelli, ranked number 5 with a joint fortune of 6.87billion pounds, and David and Simon Reuben at number 8 with a £6.18 billion fortune.

Other Brits in the top 50 include at number 19 Sir Richard Branson with £3 billion (Virgin), at number 23 Bernie Ecclestone with £2.5 billion (Formula One) and at 36 Sir Anthony Bamford with £1.6 billion (JCB).
